Inspiring Words from AACN President Liz Bridges and President Elect Beth Wathen
Posted about 4 years ago by Jean Humphreys
As we look back over the last year, we are reminded of the impact Covid-19 has had on our personal and professional lives. Covid-19 has taught us to be stronger, to innovate, to laugh and to cry but most importantly to depend on each other. Never has an AACN theme been more true to the present times. -- This Is Our Moment - All In.
The following are excerpts from AACN president Liz Bridges' NTI Super Session...
- This is Our Moment.....in the Year of the Nurse -- we've learned that the care we give every day as acute and critical care nurses is unique, and while our care can be augmented, it cannot be replaced.
- This Is Our Moment -- to courageously raise our voices in advocacy to fulfill our promise to patients, families and each other.
- This Is Our Moment -- to make evident and move forward in support of our core belief in the inherent dignity of all persons.
"The world has shifted. We've stepped forward to meet the challenge of a global pandemic with fierceness and determination, adapting to some version of a 'next normal' while leading astounding innovative practices in patient care."
Liz Bridges. This Is Our Moment and we are All In.
With the closing of Liz's year, Beth Wathen, AACN incoming president introduced the 2021-2022 theme "Rooted in Strength" during Thursday's NTI Super Session. Beth told the story of how past events in her life have rooted her strength and went on to reflect how Covid-19 has rooted each of us. Because of Covid-19:
- We are all Rooted in Strength
- We are forged in fire and
- We are growing in power.
