Job Summary
The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. Responsibilities include performing patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, and educating patients and families. The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with clinical standards and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments safely
• Monitor vital signs, labs, and diagnostic results; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
• Provide wound care, ostomy care, and management of drains and catheters
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred or required by facility
• Strong knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles, clinical procedures, and patient care standards
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for adult patients
• Proficiency in medication administration, IV therapy, and patient monitoring
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
