Overview

This presentation, The Power of Nurses, highlights the 2025 ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and its vital role in guiding ethical practice, leadership, and decision-making across the nursing profession. Developed through extensive national input, the updated Code reflects evolving healthcare challenges and introduces a new Provision 10 that emphasizes global nursing responsibility, advocacy, sustainability, and health diplomacy. The presentation explores how the Code applies to students, practicing nurses, and nurse leaders, emphasizing integrity, respect for human dignity, lifelong learning, social justice, and the creation of ethical work environments. Ultimately, it reinforces that ethics is not just a set of rules, but a lived commitment that strengthens trust, elevates the profession, and empowers nurses to lead change locally and globally.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  • Analyze the relevance of the ANA Code of Ethics in guiding professional conduct, decision-making, and leadership in nursing practice.

  • Evaluate strategies nursing leaders can use to model ethical behavior, maintain integrity, and uphold professional boundaries in complex healthcare environments.
